Law Enforcement and First Response Tactical Casualty Care
The Law Enforcement and First Response Tactical Casualty Care course prepares public safety personnel to provide immediate lifesaving medical care during high-risk incidents, tactical situations, and emergencies where access to traditional EMS care may be delayed.
This course is designed for police officers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, first responders, and public safety professionals who may need to provide care to an injured responder, victim, or casualty until Emergency Medical Services can safely access the scene.
Tactical Casualty Care for Public Safety Personnel
Participants will learn essential medical care procedures focused on preserving life during rapidly changing and potentially dangerous incidents. The course connects tactical medical principles with the practical needs of public safety personnel working in real-world emergency environments.
Bleeding Control, Tourniquets & Wound Packing
A major focus of the course is immediate hemorrhage control. Participants will learn the importance of rapid bleeding control, direct pressure, wound packing, tourniquet use, and the application of topical hemostatic dressings such as combat gauze.
Scenario-Based Crisis Response Training
Participants will receive a combination of classroom instruction, practical skill development, document review, discussion, and scenario-based training. These learning methods help build a stronger understanding of crisis behavior and give responders the opportunity to apply techniques in realistic situations.
Through practical exercises and recreated real-world scenarios, participants will practice communication, assessment, and response strategies in a controlled training environment. These exercises help prepare responders for the dynamic and unpredictable nature of emergency response.
TECC Guidelines & Hartford Consensus Principles
The course aligns with Tactical Emergency Casualty Care guidelines and incorporates recommendations from the Hartford Consensus for improving survival during active shooter and intentional mass casualty events. These principles help responders understand how early medical action can improve outcomes before EMS access is possible.
Airway Control and Shock Recognition
Participants will review airway control techniques, tactically relevant signs of shock, and the importance of rapid evacuation and transportation to an appropriate trauma center when needed.
Upon Completion of the Course, Participants Will Be Able To:
- Understand the rationale for immediate hemorrhage control.
- Demonstrate proper tourniquet application to the arm and leg.
- Describe a progressive strategy for controlling severe bleeding.
- Apply direct pressure and wound packing techniques.
- Demonstrate the proper use of a topical hemostatic dressing.
- Describe appropriate airway control techniques and devices.
- Recognize tactically relevant indicators of shock.
- Understand the importance of rapid evacuation and transportation to a trauma center.
Hands-On Medical Skills for High-Risk Incidents
This training gives public safety personnel practical medical skills that can be used during active threat incidents, tactical operations, violent events, and other emergencies where immediate action may be required before advanced medical care arrives.
